The charging point at the Repsol service station, located on the N-I as it passes the town of Tolosa in the province of Gipuzkoa, is the first to use energy storage from second-life batteries.

IBIL has installed the first charging station for electric vehicles in Spain that incorporates energy storage, at a Repsol service station located on the N-I, as it passes the town of Tolosa in the province of Gipuzkoa.

CIDETEC Energy Storage has taken an active role in the development of this innovative storage system to provide fast charging (50kW, 20-30 min charge time), contributing to the design, development of the energy management system and start-up of an installation that minimises the impact on the electricity grid.

In addition, Repsol and IBIL have relied on the technological and industrial expertise of other agents in the national value chain, such as Ingeteam, Gureak and Irizar, who have supplied electric bus batteries in order to develop a stationary product and assess the feasibility of second-life applications for these batteries.

This technological and industrial development simplifies and facilitates the installation of 50kW charging points in locations that do not have sufficient electrical power, or where the cost of the network investment makes other alternatives unfeasible.
